Alfred Doherty Playground – Norwood, MA

We always love checking out new playgrounds and jumped on the chance to see what this one was all about.  It was 91 degrees out and humid but I couldn’t fathom packing up for the beach so off we went.  Lucky for us, the playground structures were in full shade at 3:00 in the afternoon!  That’s hard to find.  The kids immediately ran off to test out the old school merry go round and swings.  My son and I were happy to find one of those awesome baby swings that had a chain in the front so that I didnt have to tug his 37 lbs and humongous feet out of the tiny holes of the other kind of baby swing.  The kids then went off to climb.  They climbed up the fire pole, the chain ladder, the chain spider net, the slides, and rock wall.  They had a blast.  They also raced down the double slides and tested out the monkey bars and little zip line.

There were picnic tables to sit at, a porta potty to use and another area with a large open field.

We will definitely be heading back here on a hot day to play in the shade.  Best thing yet? We were the only ones there!

Few things to note:

  • It’s on the border of Walpole, right near the Walpole Mall
  • It’s surrounded by woods so beware of ticks
  • It’s base is made of woodchips and sand

How to get there:
