YMCA – Foxboro, MA

I became a YMCA member for a few months this winter so took a tour of the various Y’s in the area.  The YMCA in Foxboro is quite the place.  The kids love the indoor play area which resembles a McDonald’s playland in a way – tubes, tunnels, slides and more.  There’s a small softer area for babies/toddlers to play as well in the room while big brother/sister is having fun in the tunnels.

They also have a really neat swimming pool.  A shallow pool somewhat separate from the lapswim pool comes complete with sprinklers, a bucket dumping water, and more fun.  Life jackets are provided for kids who can’t yet swim to take part in the fun.  Open Swim is a great way to have a little fun on the weekends as a family, when its too cold or gross outside to do much else.  As with other YMCAs, Foxboro has a childwatch room as well.  As a single parent or family membership, you can drop your child off for 2 hours and then go off on your own.  My personal favorite?  Spend some time in the hot tub!

They have a great lineup of exercise classes and tons of programs to sign your little one up for.  Eveything from sports to gymnastics to dance and swim.  In the summertime, check out their outdoor pool to cool off!  Also, members and non members can sign their child up for vacation camp or summer camp.  Once you join one YMCA, you can then visit any other for free and take the tour, just like me!  You also get a discount on classes for being a member.

This particular YMCA seems to be one of the nicer ones around!   Also a great place for birthday parties!
