This is one of our all time favorite places to visit.  Anytime I just need to get out of the house, we head to Ward’s.  There is always something going on.  They have an extensive U Pick line-up that we like to take advantage of.  We’ve picked everything from strawberries to blueberries to pumpkins – and it never gets old!  Hayrides are often available for U Pick season as well which is half the fun!

After we’ve eaten our share of berries, and put a few in our basket as well, we head over to visit the animals.  You can buy a bag of grain for a buck to feed the sheep and goats and my kids get a kick out of this every time.  They also have chicken, bunnies, cows and ponies to visit. It’s fun to visit them in the spring when a lot of babies have just been born.  Usually one of the goats somehow gets a hold of my daughter’s brown bag of grain and it’s all over from there.

But lucky for us, there’s so much more to be done.  We head over to the playground to check out the swings and ginormous slide and then over to the huge sandbox.  Once the kids start melting down, we visit the store and grab lunch and a smoothie.  There’s sometimes even a guy out front giving out free freshly popped homemade popcorn right off the cob! Ward’s has some of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had and my daughter doesn’t let us leave without a smoothie.  All in all, you can spend a few hours there enjoying all that nature has to offer.

Few things to note:

  • If you ask, they will split your smoothie into two cups so if you have more than one kid, they can share without fighting
  • We always get the smoothie without the soft serve ice cream.  It’s so much healthier and I think tastes better! It also makes me feel like Im not giving my kid ice cream at 10 am.
  • They do great bday parties!  Complete with hay rides, seasonal u pick and a bouncy house.
