For a small local zoo, this one packs a big punch.  Being that my little guy still takes an afternoon nap, this is the perfect size for just a few hours in the morning to see some of our animal friends, grab lunch and head home.  The thing I love most about this zoo is that it actually has a lot of really nice exhibits with larger animals.  The lions, bear, leopard, kangaroos and monkeys are the favorites of my crew.  They also have a really cool exhibit of monkeys on an island in the middle of a duck pond.  You’re able to cross a bridge over the pond to feed the ducks and get a closer view of the monkeys.  When you’re done there, you can head down the path to go feed some llamas as well.

After the summer heat is just too much, head back to the front of the zoo and change into bathing suits for the splash pad.  The zoo also has a huge playground out front that you can use for free as well as an outdoor café to grab a snack inside.

Few things to note:

  • Brings quarters for the feeder machines
  • They don’t picnic lunches but they have a snack bar. Snack bar only takes cash
  • Bring bathing suit for splash pad

How to get there:
