Indoor, Storytime, Character Appearance
It’s a rainy day, your home with two kids and you just HAVE to get out of the house. Lucky for you, there’s kid’s Storytime at the Showcase Cinemas at Patriots Place. Every Tuesday, the theatre hosts a gaggle of toddlers for their first time movie experience. I started bringing my daughter here when she was two and it’s the perfect way to kill some time in the morning.
The experience starts with a free pizza slice for each of the kids. They then setup coloring tables up front for the kids while they wait and almost always have a radio station giving away random goodies for the kids. We have quite the array of Mix 104.1 chapstick, sunglasses and plastic hot pink cups.
Next a powerpoint slideshow comes on the big screen with the pages of a book. An MC reads the book to the kids and after those 5 mins are over, the moment everyone has been waiting for arrives. Parents and kids flock to the stairs to get in line for a meet and greet with the character of the week. At the same time, a short 20 min movie is shown featuring that character.
My daughter has now met Dora, Clifford, Bob the Builder and Elmo. My son on the other hand just liked running circles up front and practicing climbing the stairs.
If we have extra time and energy, we head upstairs to walk the large pedestrian walkways of Patriots Place. Many times there are kid’s activities going on upstairs like bouncy houses, face painting and arts and crafts. Check out the Patriots Place event calendar ahead of time to see.
